4 Things We're Leaving Behind in Q3 (+ tips For a strong Q4)

As we look over the last quarter of the year, we’ve had the opportunity to reflect on what a wild ride it truly has been. Reflection allows you to not only celebrate your blessings, but to look for the silver linings and powerful lessons to be learned along the away. As we move into the final quarter of 2021, here are a few things we are leaving behind Q3 (and you might want to, too!). Drum roll, please…

1. STICKING TO PLANS WHEN WE'RE BEING LED IN ANOTHER DIRECTION

You can't fully embrace a new quarter if you're still stuck in the plans that didn’t *quite* work out the way you wanted them to. You’ve got 2 options: stay stuck and stunted, or push past and progress. Trust that everything that’s meant to be has a way of working itself out, even if it’s not in the way you’d originally envisioned it to.

August was meant to be one of our biggest sales month, but it didn’t end up happening. Were we disappointed? At first, yes! But then we realised just how many OTHER goals we’d accomplished that month instead. We weren’t meant to have our biggest sales months in August, but the action we did take that month has taken us on a path to achieving so much more.

2. FOCUSING ON FINANCIAL RESULTS RATHER THAN OVERALL RESULTS

As an entrepreneur, profit is pretty high up on the old priority list, right?! But here’s the thing…. Focusing solely on money will not allow your business to reach to its full potential.

According to studies, businesses that focus solely on profits are not as successful as they could be. Why? Because profit is nowhere near as powerful as purpose. So we left this behind in Q3, as we focus instead on the OVERALL impact that our business is creating, including epic customer service, the growth of our incredible team, and the Cactus Foundation where we are able to support the sheltering of vulnerable animals.

3. DOING THINGS WE FEEL OBLIGATED TO DO RATHER THAN THINGS WE WANT TO DO

Can you recall the last time your to-do list was sufficiently short enough to be, well, doable? When was the last time you looked at your to-do list and felt compelled to complete everything on it?

In an ideal world, we'd all be able to apply Marie Kondo's world-famous principles for organizing our closets to our to-do lists: Anything that doesn't "spark joy" gets deleted or delegated.

We suggest identifying your needle movers and the tasks that you as the CEO and visionary should/want to be responsible for, then finding the perfect person to support you with the rest 😉

4. NOT CHALLENGING OLD HABITS AND PATTERNS

Getting rid of old or unhealthy habits and patterns that are preventing us from thriving is critical. This sometimes necessitates the development of new and healthy habits to replace the old ones. Sounds like a whole lot of work, right?! Don’t worry, we’ve got you!

The first step in overcoming an old habit is to actually become aware of it. Challenge yourself to be more conscious of the actions you take throughout any given day, and ask yourself why you do it that way, and whether it can be done better.

Next, think about replacing the old habit with a better one. For example, instead of reaching for your phone first thing in the morning, reach out for your journal instead and start the day with a gratitude list. Remember it takes 90 days to form a habit, but stick with it! It’ll be oh so worth it!
